Why Values Matter in the Age of AI
We stand at the intersection of two powerful forces: Artificial Intelligence and Rare Disease Research. While AI offers unprecedented speed, it also brings risks regarding privacy and ethics.
At Regal Intel, we believe that technology is only as good as the values that govern it. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are not beholden to shareholders or quarterly profits. We are beholden to the patients who are waiting for answers. These are the core values that guide every line of code we write and every partnership we build.
1. Data Sovereignty
Your Data, Your Rules. We believe that patient data should never be treated as a commodity to be bought and sold. It is a sovereign asset of the patient and the hospital that cares for them.
Our Commitment: We operate on a "Zero Transfer" model. We bring our algorithms to the data, ensuring that sensitive patient records never leave the hospital’s secure firewall. We prove that you don't have to sacrifice privacy to achieve progress.
2. Patient Primacy
The Patient is the North Star. In the complex world of biotech—full of investors, regulators, and endpoints—it is easy to lose sight of the human being at the center. We exist to make the "invisible" patient visible.
Our Commitment: We measure success by one metric: Impact on the Patient Journey. If a project generates revenue but doesn't accelerate a diagnosis or a therapy, we don't do it.
3. Scientific Rigor
Evidence Over Hype. Rare disease research suffers from data scarcity, but that is no excuse for low standards. We believe that "Real-World Evidence" must be synonymous with "Regulatory-Grade Evidence."
Our Commitment: We hold our AI and our researchers to the highest scientific standards. We do not cut corners on validation, because we know that bad data doesn't just fail a trial—it fails a family waiting for hope.
4. Radical Collaboration
Silos are the Enemy. No single hospital, biotech company, or research institute can solve a rare disease alone. The numbers are too small. Success requires a consortium.
Our Commitment: We build bridges, not walls. As a non-profit, we facilitate collaboration between competitors—connecting Pharma A with Pharma B, and Hospital X with Hospital Y—to create a shared ecosystem where data insights are abundant and accessible.
5. Urgency
Time is not on our side. For many rare diseases, "standard of care" is a ticking clock. We operate with the understanding that every day a diagnosis is delayed is a day of irreversible progression.
Our Commitment: We build for speed. We automate what can be automated (like chart review) so that human doctors can focus on what they do best: caring for patients.
A Promise to Our Community
We invite our partners—hospitals, donors, and developers—to hold us accountable to these values. We are building the future of rare disease research, and we are building it on a foundation of absolute integrity.
